Buy Mod Clothing

Jan 2012 Fashion had something of a heyday during the 1960s, there were many new fashions around and each one spoke volumes about the type of person that would be wearing it. Before this the dress of the age was somewhat conventional and the 1960s gave the youth of the day the opportunity to break away and rebel by adopting totally new ways of dressing. If it annoyed their parents then this was just as added bonus!

If you wanted to buy Mod clothing during this time the central hub of activity was the west end of London, stores still sell some of this fashion today and there are stores dedicated to just this, or at least specialise in only 1960s fashion. Alternatively there is the internet, providing an online shopping opportunity where you can also get items made to order if you prefer.

Whichever fashion trend you choose from the 1960s they were all predominantly colourful, Mod clothing in particular could be, as it descended from French and Italian styles of dress. Rivals to the Mods during the 1960s were the Rockers. This has become notorious now and at the time was heavily over reported and sensationalised. The Rockers preferred leather jackets, motorbikes as opposed to scooters, and were in to rock music. They were seen by the Mods as being stuck in the 1950s.

The bands of the time helped to shape the fashions that became popular. This was reciprocal as some of the fashions also influenced the music. This was a time for the younger generations to assert their new fashion choices. During the 1960s alongside the Mod movement it was also the age of the hippy. Very different in terms of style from the Mod they wore more baggy jeans and flares. This was seen by the Mods as a scruffier style against their new clean cut look.

The 1960s appears to have an influence on the style choice of every decade since. Clothes that resemble, or direct revivals of, 1960s clothes can be seen clearly in the 70s and 80s. Differently to the fashions of these later decades it seems the 1960s has a certain something that has asserted its influence ever since. Perhaps it is because as opposed to these later fashions they are of a much neater and tidier style. At the time they may have been unconventional but with hindsight they have a style about them which is missing from Modern dress.

In the 1980s and more recently Mod clothing has enjoyed something of a revival, there are now many websites that offer the opportunity to buy Mod clothing at reasonable prices. This fashion is still around, many years after it was said to have ‘died out’.
